Sahlan College of Health Science and Technology, Jos is a Private Monotechnic seeking approval in line with the current policy of National Board for Technical Education.
The school was established in 2013 by Muhammad Shafiu Yakub. The college started it early operation at Jos University Consultancy, Bauchi Road Jos with few numbers of staff and student from around the nation. During this period of time, the college was affiliated with Plateau State College of Health, Zawan and also Katsina State College of Health (Daura and Kankia). So, the first, second and third sets of students were certified by these colleges of affiliate during their National/ Final exams accordingly.
In 2015, the college move to 102 Farin-gada road, opposite UNIJOS permanent site second gate and continue it development.
The college has the required number of human resources, physical structures, facilities, tools and equipment. These make the college to be fully registered by the relevant government agencies, which includes; Corporate Affairs Commission, Plateau State Ministry of Higher Education, Plateau State Ministry of Health. The school has signed a memorandum of understanding with more than twenty-five (25) practical areas within the state and outside. These facilities include, JUTH, Sunnah Hospital, OLA Hospital, all Jos North PHCs, Specialist Hospital Toro, Bauchi state.
The college got its first course accreditation from Health Record Officers Registration Board of Nigeria in 2016, to train student on professional Diploma in Medical Health Management (MHM).
The second course was accredited by Medical Laboratory Science council of Nigeria in July 2017, to train students on Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician.
The Third course was accredited by Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria in September 2017, to train student on Diploma in Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) and Certificate in Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEW).
With these achievements, the college has since 2018/2019 hosted the National /Final exams for her graduated students.
In 2025, the College moves to its permanent site of Zakaliyyo, Babale Village, Opposite Malco–Polo Field, Jos North–Plateau State, Nigeria.
Definition of terms:- Sahlan: is an Arabic word derived from Sahel, which means EASY or FACILE. Arabs use the word to tell you that all you will ask or need will be easy. So, registered the college with this word (SAHLAN) and obtained a Certificate with Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, so as all a mission and vision will be achieved easily.
College: "is an institution designed for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers”
Heath: “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Technology: "is a collection of tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures used by humans".
Jos: "is a city in the central part of Nigeria. The city has a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census. Popularly called" J-town", it is the administrative capital of Plateau State".
Meaning of the college LOGO:- -The Arabic write-up: means Sahlan. Since is an Arabic word, we place it on the logo to tell the world the real meaning of the word (Sahlan), to avoid misinterpretation. -Microscope: To reach all angles as a leading institution with a clear focus on production of relevant Human Resources for Efficient Primary Health Care (PHC) Services in Nigeria.
